On Tuesday 24th June, Alastair Crooke, Director and Founder of Conflicts Forum, gave a lecture at GSF entitled ‘The Geostrategic Divide: An Undeclared War?’, in which he examined those inflexion points which would determine the strategic future of the Middle East in some way.  These include Iraq and ISIS – which he warned not to confuse or conflate with Al Qaeda; Iran and the P5 talks; and paradoxically, the crisis in the Ukraine, which could cement an often hinted at and discussed alliance between Russia and China in terms of their interests, posing a challenge to the existing postwar global order.
