Events

Unless otherwise stated, our events are open to all and take place at The National Liberal Club (David Lloyd George Room), Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2HE. Details of our forthcoming events can be found below.

Our lectures and debates take place between 13:00 - 14:00, with doors opening for lunch at 12:30.

Many of our events are over-subscribed and registered members of Global Strategy Forum are given priority. Registration is quick and free - simply click on the 'Register' button on the left-hand menu.

The November Debate

Monday 24th November 2008 (12.30-2.30pm)

Bill Barnard, Chair of Democrats Abroad UK and Sir Christopher Meyer KCMG will be discussing the implications of the result of US Presidential election on American foreign policy in a discussion entitled 'The global challenges facing President Obama: time for a new US foreign policy?'

The December Debate

Monday 1st December (12.30-2.30pm)

As memories of the Beijing Olympics recede, our December debate will focus on China's influence in Africa in a discussion entitled 'China in Africa: friend or foe?' Confirmed panellists include Dr Chris Alden, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at LSE and author of 'China in Africa', Tom Porteous, London Director of Human Rights Watch and Dr Steve Tsang, Louis Cha Senior Research Fellow in Modern Chinese Studies, St Antony's College, Oxford.

The December Lecture

Monday 8th December 2008 (12.30-2.30pm)

The Shadow Minister for Security, Baroness Neville-Jones of Hutton Roof, will be addressing Global Strategy Forum (the title of her lecture is to be confirmed).

The January Lecture

Tuesday 20th January 2009 12.30-2.30pm TBC

Sir David Manning GCMG, CVO, former UK Ambassador to the United States, has provisionally agreed to address the Forum on Tuesday 20th January 2009

The February lecture

Tuesday 10th February 2009

The Rt Hon the Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, Secretary-General of NATO from 1999-2004, will give a lecture ion 10th February 2009 (title to be confirmed).
